Course description

Academic English Proficiency (AEP) prepares international students for undergraduate- and graduate-level academic proficiency in all four skills. This program meets the global requirement for college-level readiness, so you can confidently apply to the university of your choice.

Course options

Intensive Academic English Proficiency (AEP-I)

Attain a 4-way proficiency –economical, practical and complete English course:

1. build strong foundations in all four core academic areas (reading, writing, listening and speaking)
2. use English in an authentic context—students can add a choice of workshop or a club;
3. prepare for a language proficiency test—students can add a choice of language proficiency test (IELTS/TOEFL) in Intermediate 2*
4. gain advanced skills in English—students can add a content-specific ESP in Advanced 2**

Students can enjoy 14 hours of free access to additional exposure to English at all levels of Intensive English. Choose any one of the workshops or clubs on offer!

*(Language proficiency test is not recommended for students in the Basic level proficiency.)
**(ESP is not recommended for students in Basic or Intermediate levels)

Students who complete the Intermediate and Advanced levels with ‘Distinguished Honors’ (A+) will earn 200 (USD) toward college admission. (Applies to Intensive course only.)

 

Non-Intensive Academic English Proficiency (AEP-NI)

This option offers flexibility to choose and combine courses. This option is affordable, and students can learn at their own pace. Workshops or clubs are not free with non-intensive English courses. You can either choose one of the
following courses, or, you can do both the courses.

  • Integrated Reading and Writing
  • Integrated Listening and Speaking

Learning outcomes

Student will:

  • achieve required readiness for university/college work in reading, writing, listening and speaking at every university;
  • gain essential proficiency in using formal English;
  • practice writing university level assignments and projects.

Course description

English Language Proficiency courses (ELP) are designed to build spoken fluency in English. There are many small group, short-term workshops and clubs to choose from. Workshops and clubs can also be combined with other types of courses for additional practice.

Program description

This program would prepare ESL students to take the two most widely accepted English proficiency tests—IELTS (academic) and TOEFL. The two tests are very different, and not all universities accept both test scores.

English For Specific Purposes (ESP) is especially meant for graduate-level students or students with advanced proficiency. This program meets the very specific academic needs. All the courses are completely integrated. This means that all courses cover the four language skills—reading, writing, listening and speaking. Students have the option to choose from many different specialized English courses.
